Full-time Temporary Park Maintenance Assistants
— Parks & Recreation Department
Hourly rate: $9.50

Henderson County has immediate openings for temporary Park Maintenance Assistants to work from March through mid-October performing grounds and facilities maintenance work in County parks. Work includes mowing grass and preparing ball fields for activities and special events, assist with minor repair and maintenance of buildings and shelters at the parks. Some rotation of weekend and holidays. Full time 40 hours per week. Reports to the Park Maintenance Supervisor.
High school graduation or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. Some grounds and facilities maintenance experience preferred. Must have valid NC driver’s license.

One (1) Full-time Billing Supervisor
— Finance Department
Hourly rate: $13.52 - $15.54 Depending upon Qualifications
Grade: 66A
Under general supervision performs difficult administrative and supervisory work by ensuring the updated and accurate entry of billing data for the Emergency Medical Services Department. Plans, organizes, supervises, and directs the EMS data entry staff; oversees and performs various data entry tasks, screens and routes materials according to content of communications; prepares correspondence, reports, statements, manuscripts, forms, and various documents; answers telephone; assists citizens, receives, greets, refers, and registers visitors. Reviews and verifies records and reports to ensure that required information is provided and is correct for input into the computer for use in billing of invoices, statements, and filing medical insurance claims. Performs related work as required. Reports to the Finance Director.
Work requires some knowledge of office practices and procedures; some knowledge of general accounting practices and procedures; ability to operate office equipment, including computer, required for the position; ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise the work of others; ability to attend work regularly; excellent and accurate keyboarding skills; excellent interpersonal skills. Position requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation supplemented by courses in business practices and computer office software and some experience in secretarial and clerical work, including data entry. Pre-employment drug test required.

One (1) Full-time Maintenance Technician II
— Central Services Department
Start rate: $13.52 – 15.54 depending upon qualifications
Grade: 66B

Performs a variety of intermediate semiskilled to skilled work in the maintenance of Henderson County building, grounds, and facilities. Work includes performing semiskilled and skilled building trades such as carpentry, construction, painting, plumbing, and electrical work; includes maintenance, repair, and remodeling of County facilities. Reads blueprints for construction; assists departments in layout and design of offices; develops layouts and frames offices; inspects subcontractors’ work; custom builds bookcases, cabinets, and laminate countertops; hangs sheetrock, sands, paints, and or stains walls and wooden structures; repairs and maintains electrical heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and hot water units; seeds, mows, and fertilizes lawns or grass areas; removes snow from parking lots and sidewalks, salts icy walkways; operates motor vehicle or tractor; moves and arranges furniture or equipment as needed. Employee must exercise judgment and initiative in completing assignments. Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Requires general knowledge of principles, practices, tools, and equipment used in all phases of maintenance, repair, and remodeling of buildings and equipment; general knowledge of principles of construction; general knowledge of the maintenance of plumbing systems, electrical heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units and hot water units; skilled in the use of tools and equipment in general maintenance work; ability to safely and efficiently operate a motor vehicle; ability to attend work regularly. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and considerable experience in construction or building maintenance trades and some experience in the use of hand tools and map reading preferred. Must be able to become certified in sprinkler head replacement.
