Full-Time Paramedic EMT - $13.00; Paramedic $14.61 - 16.79 depending upon qualifications

Henderson County is accepting applications for full-time Paramedic positions with Emergency Medical Services.  Must have a current North Carolina Paramedic certification, or have a current North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate certification and obtain a current North Carolina Paramedic certification by July 2009.  Testing is required and includes written, practical, and lifting tests.  Valid North Carolina driver’s license and driver’s history are required.  Previous emergency medical service is preferred. Pre-employment drug screening required.

One (1) Full-time Director of Inspections
— Building Services Department
Depending upon qualifications

Accepting applications for an outstanding individual to perform chief complex administrative and supervisory work in the enforcement of state and local building codes, permit center, and minimum housing code. As chief building inspector, responsible for overall building inspections programs including electrical, building, plumbing and mechanical. Exercises full supervision of inspections, central permitting and minimum housing enforcement staff. Prepares, administers, and monitors departmental budget. Work is performed under general supervision exercising wide latitude, judgment and discretions. Reports to the County Manager.
Requires thorough knowledge of building construction, materials, and practices of the building trades; thorough knowledge of state and local ordinances and codes administered through the Building Services Department; general knowledge of County geography; thorough knowledge of administrative practices and procedures; budgetary process and fiscal management; ability to analyze and interpret complex information, regulations, and policies; ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing; ability to attend work regularly; ability to safely and efficiently operate a motor vehicle; excellent problem-solving, customer relations, and interpersonal skills.
Requires considerable experience in building trades, demonstrated effective managerial experience in progressively responsible positions; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess certification from North Carolina Code Officials Qualification Board at Level II or III in all areas of inspection. Bachelor’s degree in relevant field desirable. Requires valid North Carolina driver’s license.
