The Henderson County Activity Center offers a variety of ways to stay fit and active. All information regarding exercise and fitness based classes is listed below. Please call 828-697-4900 for more information.
In case of inclement weather: HCAAC classes will follow the Henderson County Schools closing schedule.

Adult Tai Chi Classes with Jana
This class is taught in a common style of Tai Chi which is simplified and performed at a slow pace, using large circular movements. The benefits include lowered blood pressure, decreased stress, improved balance, greater strength, increased flexibility.
Mondays 10:30-11:30 a.m.
$60 for 8 weeks or $10 drop in.
Baby Boot Camp with Jen McDonald
60 minute stroller fitness classes cater to moms of all fitness levels: pregnant moms, new moms, and moms with one + stroller ages children. Instructed by Nationally Certified Fitness Professional, our interval based classes incorporate cardio, strength and core for a total body workout. OUTDOOR LOCATION: JACKSON PARK / INCLEMENT WEATHER LOCATION: AHTLETIC CENTER GYM (FITNESS ROOM). FIRST CLASS FREE.

Bokwa with Christine
Bokwa is a new and completely approach to group exercise that is rapidly spreading across the globe. Bokwa participants draw letters and numbers with their feet while performing an energizing and addictive cardio workout routine.

Tuesday & Thursday; Boxing Dance Format 5:30-6:20 p.m.
Light Weights 4 Seniors with Suzanne
This class uses light weights from 1/2lbs to 3lbs on the wrists and ankles and includes a warm up, low impact aerobics, cool down, strength training, and stretching.
Tuesday's from 2:45-4:00 p.m.

Nia Fitness with Denise:
Nia trainer/Instructor Denise Medved, combines dance, martial arts & healing arts, imaginative, playful & FUN! It doesn't feel like exercise yet you work your body in a gentle and effective way! Non-impact with 3 levels of intensity. First class is free if you are a new Nia! On-going, join anytime.
Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 11:15am-12:15pm.

Out Fit with Tim:
This Monday class offers challenges for all levels. It pushes you while offering encouragement rather then intimidation. Cardio work can include Step, Hi/Lo Aerobics, or Kickbox; Strength work can include weights, mat, body weight exercise, and more. You will need to bring a fitness or yoga mat.
Monday, Wednesday & Friday 5:30- 6:30pm.

Tai Chi for Arthritis/Falls Prevention Jana
This class is for those who are NEW to Tai Chi and want to improve their balance or have Arthritis Pain, or other Chronic Conditions. This class can improve balance, strength and flexibility.
$60 for 8-week class (Punch card). $10 for Drop-ins.

Yoga with Therapeutic influences Suzanne
This type of Yoga class is good for people with limitations. All yoga classes are beginner and level 1. Join Suzanne for a gentle stretch. You will feel stronger and balanced by combining movement & breath through a series of poses. Mats and props are provided on a 1st come 1st serve basis.
Tuesdays from 1-2:15pm (Gentle - Moderate Yoga)
Thursdays from 10-11:15am (Gentle Yoga)
Thursdays from 12pm-1pm (Chair & Standing Yoga)
$8 drop-in fee for all Yoga classes
$70 = 10 classes. Six month expiration date
$50 = 2 month expiration date
(May come to any of the above 2 yoga classes within the 2 months)

Zumba Fitness with Melanie and Shannon
The ZUMBA program is a Latin-inspired, dance-fitness class that incorporates Latin and international music and dance movements, creating a dynamic, exciting, exhilarating, and effective fitness system. A ZUMBA class - known as a ZUMBA Fitness-Party - combines fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body using an aerobic/fitness approach to achieve a unique blended balance of cardio and muscle-toning benefits.
