Diabetes Self-Management Program

pregnant woman

Appointments | WIC | Breastfeeding Support | KidFit | Nutrition Services

If you have developed diabetes during pregnancy and are a client of the health department, then the Diabetes Self-Management Program can help.

During two-hour sessions, you will learn:

  • how diabetes affects you during pregnancy and after delivery
  • risks for the baby
  • how to plan meals
  • check blood sugars
  • benefits of exercise
  • and much more

Conversation maps, displays, models, and other hands-on tools are used to make class fun and to reinforce information.

To participate, you must be referred by a health department provider.

For more information, contact Colleen Rivers at (828) 694-6032. Or email the Diabetes Self-Management Program for more information.
