- Brush your teeth at least
two times each day, preferably in the morning and before bedtime.
- Floss your teeth one time
each day, preferably at night.
- Use an ADA fluoridated
toothpaste.
- Children under age three
don't need to use toothpaste. If desired, however, use only a smear
of toothpaste.

Change your toothbrush frequently--every three to four months or sooner
if you have had an illness such as strep throat.
- Visit your dentist two
times each year.
- Limit your sweet snacks.
- To avoid early childhood
caries or Nursing Bottle Syndrome, never put your baby to bed

- If your child needs a
bottle at bedtime or for long periods of time during the day, fill the
bottle with plain water only.
- Children should have their
first dental visit by age one.
- If you use tobacco products,
consider quitting to prevent all forms of cancer and also tooth decay
and gum disease.
