Henderson County Department of Public Health: Board of Health

The Board of Health is appointed by the Henderson County Board of Commissioners. The Board of Health operates as the governing body of the Department of Public Health. The Board sets policies and procedures and establishes rules and ordinances that enhances and protects the public health of Henderson County. The Board plays a key role in the budgetary process and future plans of the department.

Board of Health Members

The Board of Health consist of 11 members selected by Henderson County Board of Commissioners. The Board must have representation from the following professions: pharmacist, physician, dentist, registered nurse, engineer, commissioner, optometrist, veterinarian, as well as three members representing the general public. The 2007-2008 Board of Health members are:

The Board of Health generally meets the 1st Tuesday of each month. The meetings are at 6:00 at the Department of Public Health and are open to the public. Special Board of Health meetings, workshops, and conferences may be scheduled throughout the year. To verify Board meeting schedules, you may call Cathy Nicholson at 692-4223.
