Ages 3-5

  • Paint a "toothy" (smiling teeth, nutritious dental foods, etc.) picture using a clean discarded toothbrush as your paintbrush.
  • Cut tooth shapes out of white card stock or construction paper; let children draw a happy face on them. Provide thin tempra paint, paper, and dental floss.
  • Let your child hold one end of the floss and dip the other end into the paint. Then create a design on a piece of paper.
  • Make toothpaste. In a baggie, mix together four teaspoons of baking soda, one teaspoon salt, one teaspoon water, and one drop of flavoring extract such as peppermint, mint, or orange. Let your children brush their teeth using this homemade toothpaste.
  • Storybooks on dental subjects are available at the library or bookstore. Some suggestions include:
The Berenstain Bears Visit the Dentist
Little Rabbit's Loose Tooth
Brush Your Teeth Please
The Tooth Book
Barney Goes to the Dentist
Clark the Toothless Shark
