Abstinence
Abstinence is deciding not to have sex. Women and men who are not yet ready to become pregnant or have intercourse should consider abstinence. It is the safest and most effective way to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. All teens and women who are seen for the first time at the health department will be offered information about abstinence.
