Abstract:
Henderson County, NC county-wide black and white 1-foot, digital orthophotography for 2001 in compressed MrSID format. (.sid)
Purpose:
With the development of the internet and the need to serve various data to remote users, this data layer was developed using MrSID file format and compression technology to represent high-resolution arial ortho-photographic images that could be viewed, managed and delivered easily. This layer was generated from high resolution .tif files used as base data in the creation of other layers, including parcels. These original .tif files were produced using the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Accuracy Standards for Large Scale Maps.

There are no known security issues with this dataset. The extents of this map contain no known terrorist threats and the extents do not include the CP+L coal power plant in Buncombe County. The only possible concern is the Asheville (AVL) regional airport that is partly contained on these photos.

Twenty-eight (28) control points were used to constrain the AT solution for the 1" = 1200' scale photography consisting of newly established control. Newly established ground control points were paneled prior to the acquisition of photography, and were weighted at 0.160 meters in x and y and 0.085 meters in z.

The Root Mean Square (RMS) of the ground control does not exceed 0.076 m. Therefore for the 1" = 1200' scale photography, the RMS must be less than 0.220 m.
