Henderson County advocates the use of metadata.
GIS metadata is detailed descriptive information about GIS data.
Metadata includes information about: the source of the data, its creation
date and format, its projection, scale, resolution, accuracy, reliability
and other information.
Henderson County provides metadata for base layers
in three formats:
ESRI's *.shp.xml -- in Green
ASCII text (tab format) *.txt -- in Red
HTML format *.html -- in Blue
*All formats are FGDC compliant.

Henderson County uses several datasets from
other sources including state government. Henderson County does not redistribute
these datasets. The primary source (provider) should be contacted to obtain
