1/15/2016: Henderson County offices will be closed Jan. 18, 2016 in observance of MLK, Jr. Day. Henderson County Solid Waste Facilities (Transfer Station & Convenience Center) will be closed on Jan. 18, 2016 (facilities are open on 1/16 and 1/19).

1/11/2016: The 2016 paint recycling program at the Transfer Station is postponed until new program dates have been established. For updates and a new schedule, please check hcrecycles.org. Thank you!

12/29/2015: Henderson County offices will be closed Jan. 1, 2016. Henderson County Solid Waste Facilities (Transfer Station & Convenience Center) will be closed on Jan. 1, 2016.

6/1/2015: The FY 16 Budget was approved by the Board of Commissioners on June 2, 2015. Click here to view the adopted Budget Ordinance. Click here to view the FY 16 Solid Waste Fee Schedule, effective July 1, 2015, as several fee items have changed.

Beginning July 1, 2015, TVs and monitors will NO LONGER be accepted at the Convenience Center. These items must be taken across the scales at the Transfer Station and incur a $10 per item fee. All other electronics can still be taken to the Convenience Center for no charge. For a list of approved recyclable electronics, visit our website.

12/23/2014: Citizens are encouraged to recycle holiday items this year at various events and locations across the County. Click here for a detailed flyer on how to properly recycle Christmas trees, greenery, wreaths, cards, nonworking Christmas lights, plastics, glass, batteries, and other items. Happy Holidays from Henderson County Solid Waste and Environmental Programs!

12/15/2014: The Henderson County 4-H Club will be accepting old and broken strands of Christmas lights again this year for recycling. Discarded lights can be taken to the Cooperative Extension office in Jackson Park, Monday-Friday between 8:30am and 5:00pm. Learn more about the project here. 11/13/2014: North Carolina Governor McCrory has signed a proclamation to declare Saturday, November 15, 2014 "America Recycles Day" in support of recycling innovations, job creation, natural resource protection, and community beautification. Learn more about this date here. Citizens are encouraged to use the Henderson County Convenience Center facility Monday-Saturday from 8am until 4:30 (please refer to our Convenience Center page for information regarding the bag-for-bag program that enables recycling at this facility free to citizens).

9/18/2014:  Henderson County Solid Waste is now accepting clean loads of asphalt shingles from residential homes at the Transfer Station, Monday through Saturday from 8:00am until 4:00pm. Clean loads from residences are eligible to utilize a reduced scale fee of $35.00. All loads must be accompanied by a Shingle Supplier Certification Form.
