REGISTERING TO VOTE
Qualifications
for registration
You are qualified to register to vote in North Carolina if you meet
all of the following requirements:
- you are a citizen of the United
States
- you are a resident of North
Carolina and this county for 30 days before the election
- you are at least 18 years old
by the next general election
- if you have been convicted of
a felony, your rights of citizenship have been restored
How and Where to register
Registration lists are kept by county boards of elections, and registration
or changes in registration may take place at any board of elections
office.
However, registration is also handled at other places:
- Public assistance agencies
- Agencies serving persons with
disabilities
- Armed Forces Recruitment Offices
- Department of Motor Vehicles
- Libraries
Forms may be requested by mail, e-mail a
request on the web or in person, they may be returned by mail,
in person, or by a third party.

Verification
The Board of Elections will mail you a "Voter ID Card" listing
your precinct, voting place, districts, and other election information.
You may keep this card as a reference, but it is not a requirement for
voting.
