The Henderson County Department of Public Health is directed by Tom Bridges, MPH, Health Director.

Essential Departmental Functions: The Department of Public Health provides health, wellness, and environmental services to the residents of Henderson County. A wide variety of clinical services are offered to residents including: immunizations, foreign travel vaccinations, nutrition and WIC services, prenatal care, family planning services, breast and cervical cancer screening, primary care for babies and children to age 21, HIV and STD testing, communicable disease prevention, and tuberculosis testing and treatment. Medicaid, BC/BS, income based fees, evening clinic hours, and nurse home visits are available. The Department also maintains vital records (births and deaths) and provides wellness information, injury prevention programs, and dental health education and screening. Health data and information is also available.

The Environmental Health Division is responsible for ensuring Henderson County residents have a clean and healthful environment in which to live, work, and play. Services include food, lodging, and institution inspections, permits for sewage disposal systems, permits for well systems, inspection of all public swimming pools, mosquito and vector control, referral for lead investigations, education, and active enforcement of county and state rules and regulations.
