The Henderson County Emergency Management Department is managed by Rocky Hyder, Coordinator. Mr. Hyder and his staff perform compliance monitoring for Hazardous Materials storage, respond to Haz-Mat incidents at fixed and transportation facilities, ensure that the Henderson County Emergency Operations Plan complies with community preparedness needs in the event of a disaster, and coordinates training for support agencies. Personnel coordinate disaster/emergency response, and provide current information to emergency personnel and the citizens of Henderson County.
Essential Departmental Functions: The office of Emergency Management serves the citizens of Henderson County through mitigation efforts, emergency preparedness planning, disaster response, and recovery. The Department is also responsible for compliance monitoring mandated by Federal, SARA Title III, and North Carolina Emergency Planning and Community Right-To-Know Acts.
